Royal Academy of Arts

What was the challenge?

The Royal Academy of Arts were looking for new ways to attract younger and more diverse audiences to the gallery.

What did we do?

We curated and delivered a large-scale public event at the RA, featuring interactive workshops, live art performances and immersive experiences, which brought the gallery’s current exhibitions to life over a late and lively night.

The activities on offer included a scent gallery featuring smells related to the artworks, a roving critic giving ad hoc reviews of artwork created by gallery visitors, and the exceptional ‘Nailing Transphobia’ – a salon run by transgender nail technicians who educated the audience whilst giving them a manicure.

The event reached and inspired more than 1000 participants to engage with the RA in a new way.
